GovHack WA has grown from 53 to 150 participants in just 2 years! Participants have given us great feedback and the community of GovHack in WA is overwhelming positive and welcoming.
Our committee is largely made up of previous participants who loved it so much, we decided to help organise it too.
Most of our participants end up with a finished product by the end of the weekend. The community, mentors and data provided will help you get something off the ground in just 48 hours. You don't even need to be a coder, teams are often multi-faceted.
WA teams took away $30,000 in State prizes and over $16,000 in National prizes!
We're busy working with State Government Departments and WA Organisations to creating an amazing pool in 2016.
With over 150 participants at GovHack last year of all ages, backgrounds and industries GovHack WA, offers something for everyone and could be the beginning of a new friendship, business or career.
GovHack WA is 100% welcoming to all people. Regardless of age, background or skill-set, we would love to see you there.
We try very hard to make GovHack an amazing event for everyone involved, which means adhering to the Code of Conduct is extremely important to not only us, but everyone else at the event.
We also suggest you follow our social media accounts to stay in the loop.
We're still refining specific details as they relate to GovHack WA. The National participant toolkit is an excellent place to start though.
Again, social media is the best way to stay in the loop for GovHack WA and GovHack Perth.
You can't arrive on the weekend with a half-finished project, but we won't stop you thinking.
Make yourself aware of the data available to you, consider how different data can be mixed and which issues are most pertinent to the Government or society at the moment - or even just something you are very passionate about.
You can check them out at data.wa.gov.au or via Landgate SLIP.
Brought to you with ❤ by the GovHack WA Committee. All participants need to follow the Code of Conduct.
